Today’s small business market is as brutal as it is exciting. It is as fun as it is hectic and if you are involved with a small business you are either loving it or hating it completely. There is not much middle ground here.

On the plus side, a small business environment allows you to forget corporate loop holes and rules but on the flip side you don’t have the use of all of those big company funds. It can weigh heavily on your mind especially if you are involved in trying to get a green card replacement for yourself or a member of your family.

We all know that small business is challenging enough for a citizen of this country but if you are an alien with a green card then you have a special set of issues that you will need to deal with. Along with all of the usual paperwork associated with a small business you will also have to contend with the US immigration form and all of the needed elements of it and the red tape that is often associated with the application.

The many rewards that a small business environment offers will usually outweigh the negative portions that you will deal with. You usually have the freedom to try out ideas immediately while they are fresh and relevant rather than waiting on approval which can many times so slowly that the information is no longer of use to the people that need it. In short, you are able to see a need and make an impact on that need at a point in time when it will actually work.

All too often with a larger business people see a need and start the ball rolling. The problem with this mentality is that once the ball starts gaining momentum it is often at the point in time where the situation that caused the need has already rectified and that need is no longer there.

This is much like a green card renewal. If you wait until the due date it is often too late to get things done. You will be against the wall and fighting to stay ahead of the curve where if you had started the process six months out when you see the deadline approaching, it can be handled with no problems. You could have finished the US immigration forms and gotten your green card back in time and be breathing easy.

The best advice that can be given to people in a small business environment is that once you see a perceived need and act on it and it is under way; begin looking for your next need. Because if you sit back on your laurels and simply track that project you will be bind to other lucrative opportunities that might be right in front of your face.

The small business environment today actually has a great chance of success if you treat it with the respect and urgency that it deserves to have.
